Mice homozygous for a single point mutation exhibit decreased total retinal thickness, thin retinal outer nuclear layer, dye leakage from retinal vessels, reduced electroretinogram responses, and retinal photoreceptor degeneration. Mice homozygous for another null allele exhibit male infertility.
