Spontaneous mutations of this gene result in pleiotropic effects that include facial dysmorphism, dwarfism, male sterility, anemia, cystic choroid plexus, a late-onset slowly progressive polycystic kidney disease, and premature death. Postnatal survival is sensitive to genetic background.
