Nullizygous mice show neonatal death, exocrine pancreas and cerebellum agenesis, hypoglycemia and relocation of endocrine cells to the spleen. Knock-in mutations can lead to neonatal death, absent pancreas, altered GABAergic neuronal fate and retinal dysplasia due to misspecified retinal precursors.
