Mice with maternally inherited targeted null mutations exhibit reduced brain weight, impaired motor function, inducible seizures, learning deficits, abnormal hippocampal electroencephalographic recordings, and severely impaired long-term potentiation. A gain-of-function mutation affects different behaviors depending on allele parent-of-origin.
