Mice homozygous for an ENU-induced allele show increased susceptibility to bacterial infection induced morbidity/mortality. Mice homozygous for a knock-out allele show defective thymic development, enhanced negative T cell selection due to elevated T cell receptor signaling, decreased survival of single positive thymocytes and peripheral T cells, and impaired development of natural gut intraepithelial T lymphocytes.
