Mice homozygous for a knock-out allele exhibit embryonic lethality, decreased cell proliferation, abnormal epiblast patterning, and impaired mesoderm formation. Mice homozygous for an ENU-induced allele show defects in mitochondrial complex I component expression and assembly and loss of mitochondrial output in cardiac tissue, resulting in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy in the absence of other phenotypes.
