Mice homozygous for a null allele exhibit increased bone development with increased osteoblast activity, increased bone density, and increased bone thickness of calvaria. Knockout mice harboring a different null allele exhibit partial embryonic lethality, growth retardation, brain disorders, and maternal effect lethality, along with global DNA hypomethylation and enriched dysregulation of imprinted genes in mouse embryos and embryonic stem cells.
