Heterozygous mice exhibit axonal dystrophy in the nucleus gracilis, degeneration of Purkinje cells and gait abnormalities. mice homozygous for a conditional allele activated in neurons exhibit reduced NPC proliferation, reduced weight, abnormal dendrite arborization, seizures, and postnatal lethality.
