Homozygous deletion of this gene causes complete embryonic lethality. Mosaic or heterozygous deletion leads to spontaneous development of hepatocellular carcinoma and B-Cell lymphoma at advanced age, with chronic liver and spleen inflammation, and histologic features of nonalcoholic steatohepatitis and Mallory-Denk bodies in non-tumor liver tissues.
