Male chimeras hemizygous for a gene trapped allele appear normal at E9.5. Mice hemizygous or homozygous for a knock-out allele are viable and fertile with no overt defects in adult brain morphology and cultured motoneuron survival or axon growth. Hemizygous KO males display reduced advanced locomotor skills.
