Homozygous knockout mice exhibit lethality before weaning and leads to holoprosencephaly and craniofacial, cerebral cortex stratification and retina pigment epithelium abnormalities in embryos. Heterozygous KO leads to decreased circulating serum albumin and total protein levels and bone mineral content, lower lean body mass and higher total body fat amount.
