Mice homozygous for a knock-out allele exhibit embryonic growth retardation, embryo turning defects, abnormal head shape and heart morphology, incomplete rostral neuropore closure, mild caudal neural tube kinks, placentation defects, and complete lethality during organogenesis. A minority show abnormal yolk sacs.
